Palma de Mallorca

Palma de Mallorca is the main administrative center the island of Majorca even whole Balearic Islands. The local airport or port (where it also arrives) ferry from Barcelona) will most likely be your entry point to Mallorca.

And I definitely recommend finding time to walk around the city - you should be able to do everything important in one afternoon. 

What to see and do in Palma de Mallorca?

  • La Seu Gothic Cathedral – the most photographed monument of Palma, it started to be built in the 13th century using stones from the original Arab mosque and was not completed until 250 years later.
  • Almudaina Palace – the ancient seat of the Moorish and Mallorcan rulers can be found in the neighborhood of the temple, today it serves as a historical museum.
  • Bellver Castle (Bellver Castle) – it is located a bit out of the way, but the access road is already worth it. You can reach it by bus, or try hiking from the Gomila bus stop up the slope along Carrer de Bellver and then up the stairs around the chapel to the castle. You will see a beautiful medieval fortress with a circular donjon in the middle and from its tower you can admire the view of the whole city.
  • Train ride – From Palma, take an interesting journey along the railway lines to the port of Port de Sóller. The start is at the main train station in Palma (Estació Intermodal), but not in the underground part, but at a separate old station next to it. The one-way journey by train takes 1 hour. In the port of Sóller, you can also change to a historic tram, which takes about 20 minutes. A return ticket for the entire journey (including the tram) costs 35 EUR.   • Marineland Majorca – a well-known water park, which is famous mainly for its dolphinarium
  • Aquarium palm – a popular aquarium that attracts families with children
