If there is one place in Barcelona that every shopaholic goes to, it is undoubtedly the Passeig de Gràcia (also known in Spanish as Ride of Gràcia).

It is home to more than 150 shops, a significant part of which is aimed at the most discerning clientele: here you will find shops of luxury brands such as Cartier, Prada, Chanel or Louis Vuitton. But not only them: for example, Apple, Lego, Adidas or home-grown Zara have their flagship stores here.

But it is not only the number of shops that is unprecedented, but also the local ones modernist architecture. Passeig de Gràcia is located on the edge of prestige quarter Eixample, where, literally a few steps from the shops of world-famous brands, you can find the works of well-known architects led by Antoni Gaudi. 

All this makes her Barcelona Passeig de Gràcia considered one of the best shopping addresses in the world, which quietly ranks alongside New York's Fifth Avenue or Paris' Champs-Élysées.

Get to know the Passeig de Gràcia on your own skin

One of the indisputable advantages of Passeig de Gràcia is its location: you can find it directly in the center of Barcelona, just a short distance from the main square Pl. Catalunya. Thanks to this, you can get close to here by public transport or even walk here in a few minutes.

Getting to know the Passeig de Gràcia I recommend starting at Pl. Catalunya, where the whole street starts and stretches up towards Av. Diagonal. If you wanted to walk this entire street from start to finish, the net walking time would be approx. 20 minutes. In reality, of course, it will be much more, because every now and then you will stop somewhere and admire all the local shops or buildings... 

If you don't really need to go from one end of the street to the other and have specific shops you want to see, use the metro and get to Passeig de station Gràcia (L2, L3, L4) or Diagonal (L3, L5).

How much time do you need for Passeig de Gràcia?

The answer depends on how much you like shopping or at least peeking into shops.

If you are one of those who like to go shopping in their free time, you should definitely go to the Passeig de Gràcia reserve at least one morning or afternoon. Or even more – I think it is not a problem to spend a whole day visiting this street... All the more so if you combine it with a visit to local buildings such as Casa Batlló or Casa Milà and some lunch.

Since there are a lot of shops here, I won't list them all here. (For a complete list, view the map above this paragraph). 

I, on the other hand, will only focus on a selection of the best that you shouldn't miss here. At least in my opinion. 

Louis Vuitton store

Individual locations on Passeig de Gràcia I describe one after the other in the order in which you can come across them on the way from Pl. Catalunya:

• Apple Passeig de Gràcia – an official Apple store where you can buy new phones, tablets and other devices (ground floor) or get things repaired (1st floor).
• adidas Brand Center Barcelona – if you are Adidas fans, you must not miss this place. It is a flagship store that has everything from the current offer of this global brand on several floors. According to many, this is one of the best looking Adidas stores ever!
• The LEGO® Store Barcelona – the Lego brand probably doesn't need to be introduced twice to anyone. If you have with you in Barcelona children, definitely put the official Lego store on your list of places to visit. All construction kits, toys and other items from this Danish brand are complemented here by large models of Gaudí buildings (such as Sagrada Família or Park Guell) and other references to Catalan culture. 
• H&M – if you want to buy something for yourself and not leave half your salary for it, go to H&M. The shop is located in a beautiful old building, the genius loci of which is also reflected in the shop's original interiors. I believe you will agree that you have never seen a better looking store of this brand! There is also a good cafe right in the store, where you can stop for a coffee or something sweet while shopping.
• Zara – right across the street from H&M you will find another fast fashion chain. Originally from Spain, Zara has a huge selection of clothes, shoes and accessories for men, women and children, and the prices are more than reasonable. I just recommend arriving here in the morning, because in the later hours there are often very long queues for the changing rooms!
• UNIQLO Paseo de Gracia – originally a Japanese chain that offers simple, minimalist and stylish fashion for reasonable money. 
• Nike Store Barcelona - Passeig de Gràcia – a large three-story store, where to go if you want to add to your sneaker collection (they also have Jordan's and Air Force models that are harder to find) or perhaps FC Barcelona jerseys.
• MUJI – the second Japanese stop, which on Passeig de Gràcia you have to do The MUJI chain traditionally offers simple and functional things and fashion for everyone who does not need to boast of brands. 
• Sephora Paseo de Gràcia – this is one of the main stores to go to if you are looking for cosmetics or perfumes.
• Casa del Llibre – a huge bookstore where you must stop if you love the smell of paper and literature
• Chanel – in the Chanel boutique you will find everything you are used to from this luxury brand: current fashion collections, watches, jewelry or even perfumes. 
• Tiffany & Co. – if you want to please your partner or loved ones while visiting Barcelona with a nice gift in the form of jewelry, head to Tiffany. From the moment you step into the store, you will receive proper service and attention, as is customary with them. 
• Gucci – luxury Italian clothing, elegant sophisticated designs and the iconic motif of crossed G letters. It's all Gucci, whose store on Passeig de Gràcia you will also find 
• Dior – Dior is another representative of haute couture fashion on the Passeig de Gràcia. In their beautiful store you will find both current fashion collections and accessories, as well as perfumes and cosmetics.
• Louis Vuitton Barcelona Paseo de Gracia – one of the two stores of the luxury brand Louis Vuitton in Barcelona; head here if you want a souvenir in the form of an iconic purse or wallet; however, be prepared for longer queues, especially in high season.
• Cartier Barcelona – you can find the wonderful stylish environment, impeccable service and luxury of the Cartier brand at their store on Passeig de Gràcia. What to look forward to? A wide range of luxury jewellery, watches and other accessories for men and women. 
• HERMÈS Barcelona Gràcia - the store is located in a historic building from 1900 and offers a wide range of Hermes goods, including the iconic Birkin or Kelly handbags, fashion clothing, accessories, scarves, perfumes and jewellery. 
• Prada – another popular fashion house that has its indelible place on this luxury shopping street is Prada. In her boutique you can buy well-known handbags, scarves, sunglasses or even perfumes.
• Balenciaga – for all those looking for luxury, extravagance and unconventionality, Balenciaga is here. This store offers a wide range of luxury products, including accessories, jewelry, watches, perfumes and more for men and women.

What sights on the Passeig de Gràcia see? 

As I mentioned, this shopping street is characterized by the combination of luxury and architecture. 

• Casa Milà – this Gaudí building is a modernist villa that became famous for its unusual shapes and elaborate details. It is one of Gaudí's most iconic works, which belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
• Casa Batlló – the second Gaudí gem on the Passeig de Gràcia became famous for its colorful shapes and wavy facade that resembles the skeleton of a dragon. I recommend seeing it especially at night! 
• Casa amatller – rightly so, it is one of the most important buildings of Catalan modernism, under which both Josep Puig and Cadafalch are signed. The house, or rather the city palace, will impress you primarily with its colorful facades and rich decoration.
• Casa Lleó Morera – the last building, which together with the previous two belongs to the so-called Apple of Discord, is Casa Lleó Morera. The famous Lluís Domènech i Montaner is signed under this gem.
• Fundació Antoni Tàpies – a smaller museum dedicated to the life and work of the Spanish painter and sculptor Antoni Tàpies.

Where to eat, drink and coffee? 

• Punt – a bistro "in the middle of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea," where seafood plays a leading role. If you like this type of cuisine, you will definitely be delighted with this place!
• The National – if you get hungry while shopping, El Nacional is the obvious choice! It is a large food court with several bars and restaurants on offer. Restaurants, food and cuisine are really different here, so you can find yourself here regardless of whether you prefer classic or modern spanish food.
• Moments – Moments at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel is one of several Michelin restaurants in Barcelona. If you prefer culinary experiences and fine dining to fashion, head here for dinner. Stylish surroundings and modern Catalan cuisine will provide you with an unrepeatable experience. 
• Pomerada – a place where you can stop by for a quick lunch between shopping (meat, pasta, pizza, fish,...)
• Santander Work Café - Banco Santander – great place if you are looking for a cafe / coworking space to work; fast internet, good prices and no one will push you here if you sit here for half a day at the computer on one espresso...
• Starbucks – at the very end of Passeig de Gràcia you will find a Starbucks coffee shop, which can be a good place to end your wanderings on this street, have a coffee, something small to eat and breathe a little...

Traffic on Passeig de Gràcia

1. From another part of town – if you are heading to Passeig de Gràcia from another part of Barcelona and you don't want to walk, use the metro. You can get to the stops Pl. Catalunya (metro L1, L3, L7, trains), Passeig de Gràcia (L2, L3, L4) or Diagonal (L3, L5).
2. From the airport – for transport from the airport to Passeig de Gràcia you can use any method of transport as described on the page the way from the airport to the center. If you prefer public transport, is the best in my experience Renfe train R2N: its stop is located right in the middle of the shopping street (map). The second alternative is a taxi: it will take you here for around €35-40. This is handy if you have heavy suitcases with you. 
3. From the port – if you arrive in Barcelona by cruise ship, the easiest way to the city center is as follows: board the bus 88 (it has several stops at the port), get off at the Metro Paral·lel stop, change to the metro L3 and go to Pl. Catalunya, from where you can start exploring the whole street.
