The best places for brunch in Barcelona (in my opinion!)

When it comes to vacations, there are two types of people:

1. Some are already on their feet very early in the morning and they know exactly in advance, what their day will look like – they have it packed with back-to-back activities to see and experience as much as possible.
2. And then there is the second group of people who like to sleep in the morning and during their vacation it is more about disconnecting, relaxing and exhaling from the everyday pace and stress. And exactly for these people there is a gastronomic convenience called brunch: a combination of late breakfast and early lunch (hence its name: breakfast and lunch). 

If you belong to the latter group and take food on vacation as an experience, you might like it the best places for brunch in Barcelona - at least according to me. By visiting them, you will find that even this subgroup Spanish cuisine can be really fun and diverse...

A classic brunch is a combination of breakfast and lunch

Get ready for that there are a lot of those places in Barcelona! To try them all, you would have to live here for a long time or visit several of them a day :-)

If I may advise, choose, for example, 2-3 places from my list based on what interests you - clicking on the name will always take you to that brunch spot's Instagram, where you can visually select based on the photos.

(And be prepared that choosing your brunch spot won't be easy at all, because all the dishes look really good!).

My TOP 12 brunch places you must try in Barcelona

1. Caravelle – Caravelle in the quarter El Raval is one of my favorite staples of Barcelona's "brunch scene". You can have delicious food here, such as pulled pork, eggs in many ways, or various sweet dishes. To top it off, craft coffee or their own beer from Caravelle Brewery will land on your table. 
2. Zenith Brunch & Cocktails - you can find this place in center of Barcelona just a few steps away shopping boulevard Passeig de Grácia. Head here if you want to have a brunch that will set you up for the day ahead. They have a lot of vegan and vegetarian dishes on the menu, for example their vegan pancakes, toast with peanut butter or hummus are great. In short, not even egg or bacon lovers will come. If you are among them, you have to try their Pumpking Egg Benedict or their melt-in-the-tongue pastrami... All this can be washed down with some juice, smoothies or delicious coffee. 
3. Trópico – Barcelona's Trópico will transport you to an imaginary tropical paradise and well-being with its flavors. It has two branches in the city (one in Raval, the second a short distance from Pl. Catalunya v Eixample), so choose the one that will be closer to your place of accommodation. The food here is very good, the menu is wide ranging from sweet (try their pancakes!), to eggs in a thousand ways to heartier dishes such as tortillas, burgers or curry. 
4. Honest Greens – I personally love this chain with several businesses around town! I liked it mainly for lunch, but it's no problem to go here for brunch as well. They base themselves on the fact that all the food they offer is "real": first-class quality from local suppliers, no added substances, modifications, just real aroma and taste. Lots of well-seasoned dishes made from vegetables, roast meat, delicious sauces, lots of side dishes... They also have many vegetarian or gluten free options (see menu). Give it a try and I guarantee you'll love this place as much as I do.
5. Brunch & Cake – if you want to try something different from what you are used to, head to Brunch & Cake. This chain with many branches around the city (and a few in Dubai) offers really creative brunches and cakes. Various fruit bowls, unusual toasts or even amazing cupcakes play a role here. And to top it off, excellent coffee and other drinks. I'm telling you that this place is popular mainly with girls :-) Probably the design of the whole establishment is responsible for this, which is simple, but decent and coordinated in beige colors complemented by various flowers. An ideal brunch place to go with friends when you are flying to Barcelona for a long weekend.
6. Nonna's brunch - v Gothic quarter there are several excellent brunch establishments. What sets Nonna's brunch apart from the rest is that it's a family-run business where they try to make as much of themselves as possible with fresh, seasonal ingredients, resulting in fun brunch dishes that are hard to beat. The menu offers both salty and sweet dishes that will satisfy all taste buds. I recommend trying the toasties with their own pastry or pancakes. They have vegan and vegetarian dishes on the menu. 
7. Eat My Trip – this brunch place with several locations in Barcelona is a must-visit especially for those with a sweet tooth. This taste dominates here and definitely prepare to leave here with a sweet tooth for at least the whole next day :-) No seriously - if there is one thing that this establishment is famous for, it's their pancakes with a whole range of toppings, toppings, marmalade and the whole thing is topped with a giant ball of cotton candy. You probably understand that a visit to Eat My Trip will also be an experience for your children. Fortunately, even those who are not particularly fond of sweets will find something here: they have a variety of toasts, coated breads or even eggs. In short, Eat My Trip is a place where the whole family eats. 
8. Gringa All Day - when I first walked past this business on Trafalgar Street, I didn't really understand why there were queues outside the door. It was Sunday morning and I didn't know what was going on here. Only then did I find out that Gringa All Day is one of the TOP places in Barcelona where everyone who wants to experience a proper American breakfast right in the center goes Catalan metropolis (and this place does not take reservations). If you're in the mood for eggs, beans, burritos, tacos, bacon, or hash browns — all in the guise of a classic California restaurant — head here. (By the way, a few steps further you will also find Banksy Museum...) The specialty of the second branch in Raval are fried chicken in a variety of ways, so if you need to fill your stomach with something after a night of debauchery at one of the local bars and discos, you will love it here! 
9. Benedict Brunch – in Barcelona's Benedict Brunch will appeal to all those who prefer a classic English breakfast: egg, sausages, beans, fried tomato and toast. Plus, as the name suggests, this brunch spot will make you delicious eggs benedict (about 10 different kinds available). On top of that, add omelets, delicious burgers, homemade pancakes, acai bowls with fruit... just everything you would expect from a good breakfast, sorry brunch place :-) All for reasonable money. 
10. Milk Bar & Bistro – if there's one thing that sets this establishment apart from all the others on this list, it's primarily the drinks. As the name suggests, this place is not only a restaurant but also a bar. And it's a classic bar - you can have a cocktail, sparkling wine, sangria or something sharper for brunch. The food has something for everyone – omelettes, English breakfasts, Mexican beans, eggs benedict, pancakes and much more. Personally, I especially like the atmosphere here, the stylish interior and the pleasant service, which will make your brunch unforgettable. And due to the nature of the business, you will encounter a minimum of children here, which can be a big plus for some... 
11. Billy Brunch - if you're looking for a really relaxed atmosphere with good food and drink, Barcelona's Billy Brunch with chicken in the logo is just the place for you. They have excellent eggs benedict, avocado toast, pancakes or shakshuka. The staff at this place are very friendly and the whole place (including the food) will look great on Instagram :-)
12. Exotica Brunch – this is a trendy and popular brunch restaurant in quarter Eixample, which borrowed its aesthetics from green jungles full of wild animals. All the food here looks and tastes just like the giant painting of a jaguar on one of their walls: colorful, varied, wonderfully styled and tastes even better. The menu includes breakfast classics such as eggs, pancakes and various types of (not only avocado) toast. The specialties here are their own cakes, milkshakes and various types of lattes (try banana-peanut or hazelnut) or chocolate drinks. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend it.
