Casa Vicens, or this is what the very first building of the genius Gaudí looks like
Barcelona is home to many architectural gems, but one of them stands out for its mystery and uniqueness. Casa Vicens, a small and elegant house in a Barcelona neighborhood Gràcia, it is considered one of the smallest and least known works of the architect Antoni Gaudí, which is world-renowned for its innovative and novel creations.
Casa Vicens it also looks like something from a fairy tale - alongside the buildings in Park Güell and others by Gaudí.
Casa Vicens is a unique building in Barcelona that was built between 1883-1888. It is Gaudi's very first public building, which stands somewhat in the shadow of his much more famous and tourist-popular works such as Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Casa Milà or Casa Batlló (Gaudi designed and built much more during his lifetime, viz article describing his other buildings).

Casa Vicens it is considered one of the most important buildings in Barcelona and is considered the first evidence of Gaudí's talent. The building is characterized by its original and extravagant style, which is full of colors, ornaments and geometric shapes. This is a great example Catalan modernism.
When designing the building, Gaudí was inspired by Catalan culture and nature, which is especially evident on the facade of the building, which is covered with decorated ceramic tiles and decorated windows.

The interior of the building is as beautiful as the facade and is full of colorful and ornate walls, ceilings and furniture. Gaudí designed some of the furniture himself and his design is as extravagant as the building itself.

Casa Vicens it was originally built as a summer residence for the Vicens family, but was later sold and converted into an apartment building.
In 2005, the building was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and since 2017 it has been open to the public as a museum.
