The price of basic tickets to Barcelona's Park Güell is €18. This is the lowest price you will pay for park entry only when purchasing a ticket on the official website. If you want any additional services, such as a guided tour, you will of course pay more.

This ticket is without a guide, you can walk around the park on your own and you can stay as long as you want. 
• Ticket for a guided tour - for about double the price, you can visit Park Güell as part of an organized guided tour. He will tell you all about the history of the park, answer all your questions and then leave you space to explore the park at your own pace. The group has a maximum of 25 people and you can choose one of the languages: English, French, Spanish or Catalan.

Yes You cannot see Park Güell without a ticket, it is not a freely accessible city park like other parks in the city. 

Can I visit Park Güell for free without a ticket?

No. If you're a tourist who doesn't live in the city, you can't get into Park Güell without paying. It used to be possible to enter the park before (and after) the official opening hours, but that option has been canceled for several years now and everyone must have a ticket.

Can I buy tickets on the spot, at the box office in the park?

Yes However, I strongly advise against it. That is, at least if you plan to visit the park on the same day or the following days. The reason is simple - especially in the high season, it happens that tickets to Park Güell are quickly sold out on the same day, and if you were to arrive here in the afternoon, for example, you will already encounter the sign "sold out" and you will not be able to get in. And that's a situation you don't want to get into, especially when you take into account that the park isn't quite in the center and it takes some time to get there... It's exactly the same (and maybe a little worse) with tickets to Sagrada Família – even here it pays to plan and buy everything in advance. 

What is the best time to visit Park Güell?

When buying a ticket online, you will be able to choose the time you will come. Many readers ask me what to choose - what time do I recommend for visiting the park? I always say that for myself morning or early morning is best! Especially if you are planning a visit on the same day Sagrada Família, it makes a lot of sense to go to the park as early as possible, avoid the crowds and move to the Sagrada in the afternoon, which is better seen in the afternoon with the rays of the setting sun...

How much time is needed to visit Park Güell? 

1,5 - 2 hours. You won't be able to do the tour faster, and you will only spend a longer time here if you want to have a picnic, have a meal, or walk through some more distant parts of the park. That is why I recommend a visit in the morning, when you arrive here at, for example, 9 and at 11 you can then continue to other monuments.

Is it worth buying skip-the-line tickets?

No. On some websites, you can see Park Güell tickets listed as skip-the-line, which means that thanks to them you can get to the park faster and you won't have to wait in line. This is just a marketing phrase, because by the nature of things, any ticket bought online in advance will allow you to skip the queue, which is always the largest at the box office. You won't have to wait there - with any online ticket you can go right inside through one of the entrances. There are no queues here, and if there are, then only in season and it won't be more than a few minutes. 

Do the children have to have their ticket when we go to the park?

Yes Everyone, regardless of age, must have a ticket. This also applies to the youngest children under the age of 7, who have free entry but need to have their own ticket. So when you buy tickets for yourself, buy them a ticket too. Its price will be 0 euro.

To sum it all up: Buying Park Güell tickets in advance online has several advantages. The main ones for me are these:

• you are sure to get to the park when you want – as I wrote, in the season it is not unusual for tickets to be sold out. If you buy a ticket on the spot, at best you will be left with less attractive times, at worst you will not visit the park that day at all. When buying early, you choose when and how much you want to go here, which is better for me. 
• you will save time – when buying a ticket to the park, you will only have to wait a minimum. You can buy the ticket from the comfort of your home or hotel and then just show it when you enter (it's enough on my mobile phone). Otherwise, you have to come to the place, wait in line for maybe an hour, and only then you will be allowed into the park. And you don't want to experience that, especially if you are traveling to Barcelona with children.
