But more and more people are also starting to like a special type of late breakfast and early lunch: brunch, where in addition to food, you also have an unlimited amount of alcoholic beverages. If you haven't heard of it yet, get to know the bottomless brunch concept.

In this place, I want to explore with you what options you have in Barcelona if you want to enjoy such a bottomless brunch. 

Where did bottomless brunch come from? 

This trend has its origins in the 90s in the USA, when alcoholic drinks began to be served among friends during classic Sunday brunches. You could most often enjoy mimosa or prosecco cocktails with your meal. The joke was that you didn't have to order and pay for them one at a time, but you automatically had access to an unlimited amount of these drinks. 

Over the years, this weekend trend of sitting in the morning with friends over food and unlimited alcohol has also moved to Europe, and now even in Barcelona you can find several establishments where you can enjoy a bottomless brunch. 

What does a bottomless brunch look like in Barcelona?

Bottomless brunch in Barcelona is not only about classic types of breakfast as you know them from home or other European cities. Most local establishments try to offer some during brunch in addition to the classics such as pancakes or eggs specialties of Catalan cuisine or at least add some typical ingredients to the dishes that improve the taste of the original dish or completely turn it around. You can often come across various wonderful sandwiches, salads or other less common breakfast dishes. 

And to that, add the already mentioned alcohol, without which no bottomless brunch would be complete. The menu includes the mentioned mimosa, champagne or perhaps typical Spanish drinks: sangria and cava. Thanks to her, your brunch experience with bottomless drinks can be truly unique...

The concept of bottomless brunch is still new in Barcelona, ​​but even so there are already several establishments where you can enjoy a pleasant meeting with friends during the morning. Below are some of my tips.

• Lilo Brunch & Specialty Coffee – a nice place to enjoy a bottomless brunch in Barcelona: you choose your coffee, your food (they also have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options) and you have unlimited mimosas to go with it. Price €25/person. 
• Fair Brunch & Drinks – Faire is one of those businesses that you fall in love with as soon as you see their Instagram. But don't worry, the food tastes as good as it looks! The owners are very focused on sustainability and local ingredients, and you can treat yourself to their favorite mimosa for brunch. 
• Lato – a wonderful place to hang out with friends or family for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Over the weekend, the option to add a bottomless glass of mimosa for €12,50. 
• Belushi's – if you're looking for something a little less formal, go any Saturday or Sunday to the sports bar Belushi's just off Pl. Catalunya. They offer a bottomless brunch here for €20 from 12:00 to 15:00. The price includes a meal, 1 cocktail and an unlimited amount of mimosa, aperitif or beer. 
• Firebug Barcelona – if you want to treat yourself to brunch and good enough drinks, go here. Stylish environment, huge selection of drinks and breakfast. 

Practical tips

• Be here on the right day: Check the venue's website or Instagram to find out when the bottomless brunch is taking place. Mostly this is an offer that is only valid during the weekend (Friday - Sunday)
• Be here on time: some establishments have a limited time when the bottomless brunch is available, or the time during which you can have unlimited drinks - usually this is a window of several hours
• Find out how to book: some companies strictly require it, others do not accept it. It would be a shame not to get in as some places are really popular…
