You might not believe it, but I've heard quite a few stories of people buying a ticket to an airport far away from their original destination, only to find out after the purchase that it wasn't as good as it seemed...

Ok, I'm flying to Girona but I want to go to Barcelona, ​​what should I do?

With the introduction of low-cost Ryanair flights to Girona, several bus companies appeared on the Girona-Barcelona route. The largest of them is Sagales, which operates airbuses from Girona airport to the center of Barcelona. It's great, isn't it the departure time is governed by the arrivals of Ryanair lines, so you just need to go online buy a ticket for €22,00 (when buying a return ticket, the price is even lower) and then after arrival, calmly walk to the bus stop right next to the airport building.

Without long waits and queues, you will get on the bus that will take you in about an hour and a quarter will take you to the center of Barcelona, ​​more precisely to the bus stop North Station. You can get to the center of Barcelona by bus only with a transfer at the bus station in Girona - i.e. first you have to buy a ticket from the airport to Girona, then the second one from Girona to Barcelona.

The second option to get from Girona to Barcelona is by train. It goes from the city center, so you have to get there somehow from the airport (e.g. Sagales line 607).

The journey from the airport to the city centre takes about half an hour by bus (costs a few euros) or taxi (costs about €20). I definitely recommend combining it with a city tour while you're there. (Girona is known for its medieval fortification, Jewish quarter or maybe Eiffel Bridge...)

By car from Girona to Barcelona

If you don't have deep pockets and need flexibility, the journey from Girona airport to the center of Barcelona can be done by car. You can hail a taxi in front of the airport hall and be driven to Barcelona for around €120 or order a car rental directly at the airport with the provision that you return it in Barcelona. How to get from Barcelona to Girona Airport?

For the return trip from Barcelona to Girona Airport, you can use the same means of transport as I described above.

In this case, the buses that arrive at the same time as the departures are great, and you have about an hour to check in. This is especially useful for early departures, as you don't have to wait anywhere for long. 

Several people have written to me saying that they have an early morning flight and there is no connection that day. If this is your case, there is no better recommendation than to go to Girona the day before and spend your last day in Spain there.
