Where is Reus Airport located?
The airport is located only 8 km from the city center Tarragona and is served by several airlines, which I will elaborate on a little later.
Tarragona itself is a very unique, historic city that is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and hundreds of thousands of tourists go there every year to admire the impressive monuments from the Roman and ancient times.
The airport is also popular among families with children and lovers of fun and adrenaline, because it is located a short distance from the town of Salou. This in turn is known for amusement parks such as PortAventura or Ferrari land.
The following map will tell you more about the location of the airport:

In addition to its convenient location, Reus Airport offers a number of services, including parking, airport lounges and several restaurants, and plenty of duty-free shops where you can shop conveniently.
Reus airport code
If you are flying to or from Reus airport, you need to know its code.
The IATA code of Reus Airport is REU and the ICAO code is LERS. These codes are used to identify the airport in flight schedules, boarding passes, luggage tags and other travel documents. The airport code is also useful when searching for airport information on the Internet, such as airline websites or travel forums.
The airport code REU stands for Reus, which refers to the name of the city where the airport is located.
The ICAO code LERS indicates the location of the airport in the world. The first two letters "LE" indicate that the airport is located in Spain, while the last two letters "RS" are the location identifier of Reus Airport. The ICAO code is mainly used by air traffic controllers and pilots for mutual communication during flights. For you as a tourist, this code is not very important.
If you want to get to the airport, you can use, for example:
- taxi from the center of Reus (€22) or from Salou or Tarragona (€33).
- airport bus line 50 shuttle between the city center (Plaza de la Llibertat) and the airport terminals (€3, one way)
- by own car along the T-11 highway (Autovia T-11), which leads right through big cities like Reus or Tarragona.
Transport from the airport in Reus
For most tourists, Reus is not the final destination - they usually go somewhere further in Spain, to one of the cities or to another airport. I therefore offer a description of several popular options for getting from Reus airport to where you need to go.

Reus Airport → Barcelona
If you are heading from Reus Airport to Barcelona, you can use a bus, train or taxi. Reus Airport is 100 km from Barcelona.
The fastest way to get to Barcelona is by taxi, the journey takes about 1 hour and costs about €150, which can be quite a lot for some.
Bus from Reus Airport to Barcelona
It is cheaper to travel by public transport. I recommend the bus for myself. Its price is a pleasant €17,20, the journey takes about an hour and a half, and you can buy a ticket for it in the arrivals hall. The bus is operated by the Monbus company and its bus line will take you from the stop at the arrivals hall to Barcelona Sants station. The bus on the Reus - Barcelona airport line runs 4 times a day, every day of the week. See timetables for more.
Train from Reus to Barcelona
By far the cheapest of all options is the train from the Renfe company. It costs less than €10 and runs by far the most frequently: the train runs every hour during the day. The disadvantage is that before boarding you have to travel to the center of Reus or to Reus train station (map) – in short, the train does not go directly from the airport. On the other hand - just like the bus - they will drop you off in Barcelona at the Sants train station.
Reus Airport → Tarragona
Tarragona it's really close to Reus airport! I personally recommend a taxi or bus. A Monbus bus journey takes approximately 30 minutes and costs approximately €3 (food orders). The taxi ride takes about 20 minutes and then you pay about €30-35.
Reus Airport → Salou
Salou is a popular tourist destination in Spain and there are several ways to get there from Reus airport: you can take a bus, taxi or rent a car. The bus journey takes approximately 30 minutes and costs approximately €7. A taxi from Reus Airport to Salou is more expensive and costs around €33.
Reus Airport → Portaventura
Portaventura is a popular amusement park located near the city of Salou. You can get there directly from Reus airport by bus, taxi or rent your own car. The bus journey takes approximately 30 minutes and costs approximately 7 euros. I recommend renting own shuttle, for which you will pay approximately €20 for two people and he will take you directly to the hotel in the park.
Reus Airport → Cambrils
Cambrils is a coastal town located close to Reus airport and there are several transport options available. You can use a bus, taxi or rent a car. The bus journey takes approximately 30 minutes and costs approximately €3.
Reus Airport → Sitges
O Sitges I have written several times on this website. It is a really beautiful city located near Barcelona and I recommend its visit to everyone! If you want to get there from Reus airport, you have several options: bus, train, taxi or car rental. The fastest way to get to Sitges is by taxi, which takes about 45 minutes and costs around €100. A cheaper option from Reus Airport to Sitges is to travel by bus. It takes approximately 2 hours and costs less than €20.

Car hire at Reus Airport
Someone prefers personal transport instead of public transport. If you also belong to this group, you will certainly be glad that at Reus airport you can use the services of several car rental companies (see also my experience with car rental in Spain). With a rental car, you will have the opportunity to explore beautiful Catalonia at your own pace. Here's a little overview of what you should know about car hire at Reus Airport.
- Rental offices at the airport: Several car rental companies operate at Reus Airport, such as SIXT, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Rentalcars.com and Goldcar. Each company offers a range of vehicles, and I would say that absolutely everyone can choose from their offer, regardless of how big or small your car budget is.
- Vehicle types: There are small cars, mid-range cars and larger or even vans to choose from. You can choose from a manual or automatic transmission, and some companies offer hybrid or electric vehicles. So if you are a fan of electric cars (or want to try it), you will definitely choose.
- Reservation: You can book your car rental online in advance or at the airport upon arrival - you will probably not be surprised that I recommend the online option because you will be sure that the car you want will be waiting for you at the airport in Reus.
- Age limit: You must be at least 21 years old to rent a car at Reus Airport. However, drivers under the age of 25 may be subject to the young driver surcharge. It is important to check the specific age requirements and surcharges with the selected car rental company. This is a classic that probably won't surprise anyone who has rented a car abroad.
Pay attention to the return of the rented vehicle
When returning the rented car always follow the instructions provided by your car rental company. Most companies have a dedicated drop-off area at the airport, and some may require you to return the car with a full tank of gas (and some may not). Before returning the car, be sure to check that it is not damaged and report any problems to the car rental company. (When I pick up a car from a rental company, I always take a picture of it beforehand, to avoid possible hazing if they want to blame me for any damage that was already on the car... :-)
I think for a lot of people, renting a car at Reus Airport can be a convenient and flexible way to explore Catalonia. Just always make sure you choose a reputable car rental company, read the terms and conditions carefully and follow the instructions provided.
Taxi services at Reus Airport
If you arrive at Reus Airport (REU) and need to get to your destination really quickly, a taxi may be the best option for you. At Reus Airport, a permanent taxi service is available for aircraft arrivals and there is an information office in the arrivals hall to help you with any questions you may have.

Approximate taxi prices from Reus airport to various destinations are as follows:
- Reus: €22
- Salou: €33
- Tarragona: €33
- Cambrils: €37
- Reus train station: €40
- Barcelona-El Prat Airport: €170

Mostly suitable for a larger number of people or if you have some special requirements (e.g. a lot of luggage, strollers, etc.)
