Barceloneta district in Barcelona - what to see and do here?

Urban district Barceloneta is a great place for anyone looking for a combination of beach atmosphere, cultural experiences and good food.

  • Barceloneta is located right by the sea: if you like to relax, sunbathe on the beaches, you swim in the sea or indulge in some of the sports, you will love this place. 
  • It is a short distance to the center: Barceloneta is within walking distance of the city center - not far from other parts old town as the born or Barri Gotic. Alternatively, you can use public transport, which will take you where you need to be. 
  • Although you are in the center of the city, there is a lot here more authentic and local atmosphere than, for example, in the aforementioned Barri Gòtic. 
  • Barceloneta is great for long walks – personally, I like walks along the coast, where you can have something good to drink, ice cream or some food and observe the surrounding traffic on beaches or in port. This place is also wonderful if you like to run - there are several kilometers of cycle paths along the sea, where runners, cyclists or people who cross from one beach to another meet.
  • Excellent location if you love seafood and fish - Barceloneta is also known for its wide range of restaurants serving fresh fish, seafood and others typical spanish dishes such as paella. 
  • For nightlife fans: You will find many in and around the beaches of Barceloneta bars and clubs great for nightlife. If you like evening entertainment and want to experience the local party scene, this neighborhood has it covered. Take a look at the clubs, for example Shôko or Opium, or choose a smaller bar on the beach.
